At the point when Odysseus and his work powers show up on Circe # 8217 ; s island, they are still in sensibly great structure. In Book X, lines 194-196, Odysseus says: # 8220 ; I moved to a bouldery topographic purpose of perception and took a gander at the island, and the everlasting ocean lies all around it. # 8221 ; I accept this enlightens an extremely of import feature in Circe # 8217 ; s tendencies. She doesn # 8217 ; t appear to want to do any existent injury to the work powers, yet needs to encompass these work powers with her supplement, vino, and licentiousness. She is by all accounts fixated on salacity and material posse ssions, and it is my conviction that she speaks to all that is powerless in grown-up females ( at any rate in Homer # 8217 ; s cut ) . In lines 294-296, Hermes is present withing Odysseus on the best way to stay away from injury from Circe: # 8220 ; hotfoot frontward against Circe, as though you were inclining to slaughter her, and she will be apprehensive, and welcome you to head out to bed with her. # 8221 ; Circe other than shows us as perusers Odysseus # 8217 ; fizzling towards obscenity and sexual orientation. This clasp spent on Circe # 8217 ; s island was a preliminary of whether he could oppose salacity from a goddess, and he falls flat. What aggravates the reality Odysseus is non even the first prepared to travel. His work powers are the 1s who encourage him to go forward: # 8220 ; What distresses you now? It is clasp to accept a bout ou R ain country† ( Book X, line 472 ) . At an impression, apparently Odysseus is essentially respecting Circe’s methodologies for grounds identified with their wellbeing and great being, on the off chance that we set out to find the real story, we in a matter of seconds get down to perceive that Odysseus is feeble in the greedy authorities of licentiousness. Odysseus shows up on Calypso’s island in her cavern. From the outset, it appears Odysseus doesn’t appear to be a lot to mind her taking consideration of him, yet over clasp it is clearly obvious that he is discontent with her. At the point when Hermes shows up on Calypso’s island to give her the message from Zeus to relinquish Odysseus, he is roaring on the beach†a daylong movement for him. Calypso is keeping him with her forcibly ; she has no confidants to help him back to Ithaca, nor has she a boat to guide him in. Athena begs Zeus to give Odysseus good karma, expressing that â€Å"he lies away on an island distress solid strivings in the château of the fairy Calypso, and she confines him by limitation, and he can non do his way to his state, for he has non any boats by him, nor any friends who can pass on him back over the sea’s expansive ridges† ( Book V, lines 13-17 ) . Odysseus’s visit to Calypso island, and his drawn-out remain, shows his stamp side, when he is isolated by perish from his group, cognizing he has no pick however to remain with Calypso, yet he despite everything grieves for Penelope, Telemachus, and Ithaca. Calypso feels it is her entitlement to look after Odysseus. All things considered, it was her raising and love that spared him from expire. She adores him and needed to do him undying with her so they could populate together for all endlessness, yet he despite everything aches to come back to his place. This shows Odysseus’ expectation, finding, and huge love for his place. A great many people would hold surrendered t rust by this clasp. Odysseus’ involvement in Calypso mirrors his quality and perseverance, however he cries each of the twenty-four hours regular. It is fairly dry. Calypso appears to represent womanly green-looked at beast. She realizes he has a hitched lady hanging tight in Ithaca for him, yet she keeps on holding him for her ain narrow minded felicity. She is by all accounts a little uncertain on the off chance that she is more noteworthy in excellence than Penelope when she guarantees Odysseus that she surpasses Penelope by a long shot in that nation. It appears that she realized what his answer would be and essentially needed to hear it from his oral pit. Circe and Calypso are two extremely exceptional inverts in Odysseus # 8217 ; come back to Ithaca. I accept the ground these two topographic focuses confined him for longer than some other topographic point was on the grounds that Odysseus, when within the sight of these lovely goddesses, was debilitated seriously. It # 8217 ; s the normal, dateless story of the force grown-up females hold over work powers with regards to sex.

If the YTM = coupon rate the bond will sell for the face value (i. e. current price = face value). ?If the YTM gt; coupon rate the bond will sell for a discount (yield goes up, price goes down). If the YTM lt; coupon rate the bond will sell for a premium (yield goes down, price goes up). Discussion 1. Identify the three most important determinants of the price of a bond. Describe the effect of each? Answer The three factors affecting the price of a bond are coupon yield term to maturity. We will write a custom essay sample on Essays Solution or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page T gt; The relationship between price and coupon is a direct one the higher the coupon, the higher the price. The relationship between price and yield is an inverse one the higher the yield the lower the price, all other factors held constant. The relationship between price and maturity is not so clearly evident. Price changes resulting from changes in yields will be more pronounced, the longer the term to maturity. 2. Given a change in the level of interest rates, discuss how two major factors will influence the relative change in price of individual bonds. Answer For a given change in the level of interest rates, two factors that will influence the relative change in bond prices are the coupon and maturity of the issues. Bonds with longer maturity and/or lower coupons will have the greatest price changes in response to a given change in interest rates. Other factors likewise cause differences in price volatility, including the call features, but these factors are typically much less important. 3. What is the purpose of bond ratings? Answer Bond ratings provide a very important service in the market for fixed income securities because they provide the fundamental analysis for thousands of issues. The rating agencies conduct extensive analyses of the intrinsic characteristics of the issue to determine the default risk for the investor and inform the market of the analyses through their ratings. 4. What are the important assumptions made when you calculate the promised YTM? Answer The most crucial assumption that the investor makes is that cash flows will be received in full (i. e. investors hold the bond to maturity) and reinvested at the promised yield. 5. You expect interest rates to decline over the next 6 months. What kind of bonds do you want in your portfolios in term of duration and explain your reasoning for this choice. Answer Given that you expect interest rates to decline during the next six months, you should choose bonds that will have the largest price increase, that is, bonds with long durations. 6. Which of the following bonds will have the greatest percentage increase in value if all interest rates decrease by 1 percent? a. 20-year, zero coupon bond. b. 10-year, zero coupon bond. c. 20-year, 10 percent coupon bond. d. 20-year, 5 percent coupon bond. Answer Since a zero coupon bond’s price today is determined just by the NPV of its par value, all of its payment is discounted for the maximum amount of time, whereas a coupon bond has many payments discounted for less than the maximum amount of time. Therefore, a zero coupon bond is most affected by interest rate changes. So, the longest zero coupon bond is the correct answer, which is statement a. 7. Which of the following statements is most correct? a. All else equal, long-term bonds have more interest rate risk than short-term bonds. b. All else equal, high-coupon bonds have less reinvestment rate risk than low-coupon bonds. . All else equal, short-term bonds have less reinvestment rate risk than do long-term bonds. d. All of the statements above are correct. Answer Statement a since high-coupon bonds have more reinvestment rate risk than low-coupon bonds and short-term bonds have more reinvestment rate risk than do long-term bonds. Problems 1. Two years ago you bought a governme nt bond for $1,000 because you liked the 10% p. a. coupon interest payment that you would receive for 10 years. Interest on the bond is paid annually. Two years later, when the market interest rate has fallen to 8% p. a. what is the value of your bond? Solution Since coupon rate is 10% and YTM has fallen to 8%, it must be the case that the price of this bond has increased (remembering the inverse relationship between bond price and yield). 2. The Morgan Corporation has two different bonds currently outstanding. Bond M has a face value of $20,000 and matures in 20 years. The bond makes no payments for the first six years, then payS $800 every six months over the subsequently eight years, and finally pays $1,000 every six months over the last 6 years. Bond N also has a face value of $20,000 and a maturity of 20 years; it makes no coupon payments over the life of the bond. If the required return on both these bond is 8 percent compounded semiannually, what is the current price of bond M? and bond N? Solution The price of any bond (or financial instrument) is the PV of the future cash flows. Even though Bond M makes different coupons payments, to find the price of the bond, we just find the PV of the cash flows. The PV of the cash flows for Bond M is: PM = $800(PVIFA4%,n=16)(PVIF4%,n=12) + $1,000(PVIFA4%,1n=2)(PVIF4%,n=28) + $20,000(PVIF4%,n=40) PM = $13,117. 88 Notice that for the coupon payments of $800, we found the PVA for the coupon payments, and then discounted the lump sum back to today. Bond N is a zero coupon bond with a $20,000 par value; therefore, the price of the bond is the PV of the par, or: PN = $20,000(PVIF4%,40) = $4,165. 78 3. Bond P is a premium bond with a 9 percent coupon. Bond D is a 5 percent coupon bond currently selling at a discount. Both bonds make annual payments, have a YTM of 7 percent, and have five years to maturity. What is the current yield for bond P? for bond D? if interest rates remain unchanged, what is the expected capital gains yield over the next year for bond P? for bond D? Explain your answers and the interrelationship among the various types of yields. Solution To find the capital gains yield and the current yield, we need to find the price of the bond. The current price of Bond P and the price of Bond P in one year is: P:P0 = $90(PVIFA7%,5) + $1,000(PVIF7%,5) = $1,082. 00 P1 = $90(PVIFA7%,4) + $1,000(PVIF7%,4) = $1,067. 74 Current yield = $90 / $1,082. 00 = . 0832 or 8. 32% The capital gains yield is: Capital gains yield = (New price – Original price) / Original price Capital gains yield = ($1,067. 74 – 1,082. 00) / $1,082. 00 = –0. 0132 or –1. 32% The current price of Bond D and the price of Bond D in one year is: D:P0 = $50(PVIFA7%,5) + $1,000(PVIF7%,5) = $918. 00 P1 = $50(PVIFA7%,4) + $1,000(PVIF7%,4) = $932. 26 Current yield = $50 / $918. 00 = 0. 0545 or 5. 45% Capital gains yield = ($932. 26 – 918. 00) / $918. 00 = 0. 0155 or 1. 55% All else held constant, premium bonds pay a high current income while having price depreciation as maturity nears; discount bonds pay a lower current income but have price appreciation as maturity nears. For either bond, the total return is still 7%, but this return is distributed differently between current income and capital gains.

Paper#1 Metaphysics Essays - Ballinger, , Term Papers

[Sarah Ballinger]Core Paper #1: Intellectual Caves[King] In the movie "The Truman Show", the main character Truman is living a life in which all of his experiences are simulated, but he believes that he lives in the real world. This resembles what the prisoners went through in "The Myth of the Cave", when they were stuck in chains and could only see the shadows on the wall. The puppet masters outside of the cave decide what the prisoners see and hear, thus they can create an entire alternate reality. Truman's reality is also staged for him by the directors of the show. Both Truman and the prisoners are presented with a reality, and they have no reason not to believe in this theatrical world. When released from these intellectual caves, they cannot discern what is real since their sense of reality is faulty. Everything in Truman's life was made up such as his job, where he lived, his friends, and his relationships. Truman believes that he is in control of his own life. This makes a big difference in his life because in his reality everyt hing works perfectly, which is usually not the case in the real world. Because of this, Truman would not know how to deal with tough situations that occur in the real world. Most of my childhood I spent a lot of time at my grandparents' house, since both of my parents had full-time jobs. When I was around 6 years old, my grandmother told my brother and I to run away if we see a spider. She told us that if a spider touches our skin, it will bite us and there would be nothing she could do to save us. This terrified me, and for good reason! I believed everything my grandma told me, so I had no reason not to believe what she had told me. From this moment on I was scared of spiders, and I stayed far away from them for years due to this reality I believed. I wouldn't say that these perceptions were necessarily appealing, but they were easy to believe for a few reasons. One reason was at my age, I believed almost anything my parents and grandparents told me. Also, I had never had an encounter with a spider that bit me, so I had no proof to discount what I believed to be true. The moment I began to doubt this perception was when my dad had gotten bit by a spider . I was so upset and I cried to my dad, explaining to him what was going to happen. He laughed and told me that it wasn't true, he said he would be perfectly fine, and he was. At this point I had to try and discern the truth. I was confused because I had believed this to be true for years, and now this view of reality was proved false. Even though I know now that this story I was told about spiders is untrue, I still today carry an excessive fear of spiders. This makes me question if once we escape an intellectual cave, if we still carry parts of that alternate reality. The world we live in can sometimes deceive us of the truth. We as humans often choose to believe what we wish, instead of what is true. Such as the great thinker Plato believes in the world of the forms, and often dismisses the physical world. It is easy to follow Plato's idea of reality, because it cannot be proven wrong with solid evidence. In that reality, no one can prove its true or untrue, and so it can seem much more appealing. Thus, we must question everything we believe in, because questioning our beliefs is how we discover the truth. Plato entrusts reason, but it can occasionally be difficult to reason through the truth. He says to be weary of material objects, telling us that they are not real and are merely copies of the real thing. He says that the spirit is valid, but how can we prove something is reality if there is no reason or confirmation to believe in it? Discovering the truth will make us better, more intellectually diverse

One of the main organizing principles of the Chinese music scale are centered around the minor third and major sixth intervals. The preference for those specific intervals mask the semitones of the Chinese scale which gives it that very distinctive tone that is often difficult to discern for those of us in the western world. Chinese musical compositions also utilize a system of intervals, built upon both thirds and fourths. (NatGeo.com) Therefore we can assume that much of the worlds music to come after this was based loosely upon the Chinese ideals. This gives the music of China, especially that of the Han dynasty the classification of â€Å"classical†. The ancient Chinese defined a series of 12 frequencies called the â€Å"là ¼-là ¼Ã¢â‚¬ . Various sets of five, or six, or seven frequencies, pentatonic and heptatonic tones, created from these frequencies were selected to make the major scale familiar to our own ears. Chinese aesthetics prefers to use intervals rather than scales. These 12 â€Å"là ¼Ã¢â‚¬ are approximate to the frequencies we know as F, G flat, G, E flat, and E. (Worner, K) The Chinese system of tuning includes the closest tones to the â€Å"just† intervals. In music, just intonation is any musical tuning in which the frequencies of notes are related by ratios of small whole numbers. Any interval tuned in this way is called a just interval. (Wikipedia, â€Å"just intonation†) Typically, most Chinese melodies are based on an octave of five notes. Even though sets of seven notes that we know of as Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti (Do) were used extensively at one point in china. These and their influence are responsible for the scales we use in western music today. (Hook, B) Art music was the central portion of the Chinese musical system. Courtesan and dance music as an art form were a very minor part of the times philosophical mainstream. Classical music in the Chinese lifestyle was at its peak during the reign of Ji Kang (223-262 CE) at the end of the Han Dynasty. Ji Kang was one of the foremost poets, musicians philosophers of this time. Many of his compositions are still studied today. (NatGeo.com) Chinese classical music slowly faded towards the end of the Han dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE), and throughout the later eras, except for an extended period during the Tang period. The Han invented and made up many tools and other forms of human communications. One of the reasons it was called classical is because of its literature and advancements in writing. The Chinese invented paper which is one of the greatest inventions known to man. The Han poetry was simplistic and refined and the Han culture expressed humanism and common sense when they wrote their poetry. Chinese poetry also took the form of hymns and ritual songs accompanied by lute and other string instruments. Chinese poetry was never made to write about epics of heroic poems but wrote to serve as entertainment that was usually read at banquets, showing of affection, or gifts. Han poetry, which takes the form of â€Å"prose-poem,† is personal and intimate and not moralizing and eulogistic. Therefore their poetry is not meant to glorify individuals prowess or valorous achievements as it mediates on human experience. The Han poems are well known for the beauty they poses in each poem that was created. Han poems didn’t necessarily always rhyme and flow but they were always written to make a point or to point something out that the poet felt at the time. One of the very famous poems of the Han culture was the Chu lyrics that evolved into the fu, a poem usually in rhymed verse except for the intro and the conclusion that are in prose. Often in the form of question and answers. During the Han period Emperor Wu (156-87 BCE)accepted Confucianism as the state ideology of China. The ideals of Confucianism state that all people will be treated with humanity, and that one should act according to their rank. He taught that the five most important relationships are a parent and a child, husband and wife, elder and younger brother, friend to friend, and ruler to subject. Each relationship having a duty to the other. Confucianism also lead to a state educational system based on the teachings of China’s first philosopher Kung fu-Tzu (551-479 BCE), who’s name translates to Confucius in Latin. Emperor Wu founded the Grand Academy to teach the five Confucius classics which are The Book of Changes, The Book of History, The Book of Songs, The Book of Rites, and The Spring and Autumn Annals. Confucius is also responsible for the Analects, which was a guide for proper behavior among society. It was his idea that to become an ethical person you must study and practice appropriate behavior. (Moore, J) The basis of ethical behavior are divided into to parts. The Li is the learning of appropriate behavior when engaging in human interaction, while the Ren is the action of a person its self. The Golden rule of Confucianism is â€Å"What you do not want to be done to you, do not do to others† (Analects 15:23). The Han Dynasty was by far China’s most advance civilization. Still to this day some of the Han ideals are still in practice and they remain the greatest Chinese empire the world has ever seen. Bibliography 1. Classical | Define Classical at Dictionary.com. Report - Essay Example These include; total quality management (TQM), product and process design, design flow, vendor management, and waste elimination. This report is based on existing observable evidence in the use of inventory systems in restaurants, and the resulting impact these systems have in improving efficiency. The conclusion made is that implementing this restaurant management system in this restaurant is feasible, but in order to realize the intended benefits employee training will most likely be required. Otherwise, improper use of the system may lead to incorrect inventory management and subsequent order placing. ... This allows for the business organization to obtain information on the sale levels of the individual products, and to determine the ideal interval for replenishing the stock after predefined stock levels are reached. Trail Stock Levels. Inventory management systems make it possible to tell the amount of stock that a business is left with after sales within a given period, and can start orders for items that are low in stock based on the level of currently stocked items. The advantage brought about by the efficiency of inventory management software is the ability to maintain stock at suitable levels, and in so doing maintain customer loyalty because repeat customers only frequent places where they can find the products they want. The inventory management system can be of great importance in the event of a sale's promotion, as it can detect items that are over-stocked, and that can be included in the promotion. In the event that the promotion breeds demand the products, the system can initiate and modify the product orders to match the demand. Inventory and Sales Reporting. Inventory management systems use merchandise movement reports to facilitate the location of revenues produced by the sale of specific products within a given time frame. From these reports, one can identify the undersold stock as well as make sales forecasts built on past performances. This helps the business in planning for the future as it can make decisions on how to continue stocking its inventory based on these reports. OUTCOMES AND ANALYSIS This report explores three areas of scrutiny. These include: 1. What are the potential advantages and disadvantages of an inventory management system? 2. How can the inventory management system be created for adopted by the restaurant? 3. What

Lucas-Phelps model Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Lucas-Phelps model - Essay Example Government’s interest in stabilising the economy is not only rooted on its political responsibility to control fluctuations in prices but equally to reign-in inflations that is brought about by temporary economic stressors as well. Ensuring the predictability of its economy will strengthen the job market and will also reinforce the collective confidence of the people to the government and its goals. Governments that are heavily involved in its country’s economic activity can, by its regular function, control interest rates that will restrict the liquidity of the market. By introducing temporary tax incentives however can create a situation that will lead to an excess supply of goods which circumstance will similarly bring down prices for that commodity. While enforcing stricter rules and regulation, the government can also influence the supply or the availability of goods in the market that will, in turn, force the prices of that commodity. These controls when implement ed on key economic indicator products such as oil or even wheat are effective tools in stabilising an economy. However, the end-results of these controls are not absolute due to the volatile nature of the economy. There are tangible variables that can be controlled through fiscal policies or through the degree in which laws are enforced but the collective consciousness of the market is very hard to control much less predict. The â€Å"rational expectation hypothesis† or â€Å"theory of rational expectation† posits that in uncertain conditions, the main players—composed of the people—in any economy make decisions based on their perceptions of how economic stressors will affect them (Muth, 1992). Meanwhile, economic agent’s rational expectations revolve around other market forces that would include government intervention, raw materials or input materials availability to create the best possible economic model for the future. Thus, the rational expec tation hypothesis propose that economic predictions based on the correlation of an infinite number of different variables are correct even if individual predictions made on the different variables turn out to be erroneous or inaccurate so long as the expected model holds. The primary reason why stabilisation policies are enforced or applied to a volatile market is to stabilise the economy, if not make it more predictable in order for economic agents to settle. However, if economic agents create an economic model base on the current economic values of economic stressors towards stabilising the economy, the introduction of a new variable from the government base on the â€Å"rational expectation hypothesis† will not make a huge impact. The primary reason for this is that over time, given that the economic agents also need to respond to the economic model they created the economy will eventually stabilise or settle. Cyclical Aggregate Demand Policy defines an economic systemâ₠¬â„¢s fluctuations as far as demands for goods are concerned. Counter cyclical or reversal of the economic system’s demand for goods to force it to follow a different path is not an absolute solution to stabilise prices in particular and stabilise the economy in general. This is especially accurate at full employment since the output of the work force will eventually find its way to mainstream market where its price is subject to market forces. The proposition that stabilisation policies are negated by rational expectati

Decreasing Violence in America Essay -- Violence Media Crime Televisio

Decreasing Violence in America Today in St. Paul two people were murdered. It has been reported that the two were fighting with a third party about a phone call that was made. The suspect is in custody and the case is under investigation,† a reporter in the ten o’clock news reports. â€Å"Spouse and child abuse are on the rise. This year alone over ‘6 million men, women, and children were victims of severe physical attacks from their spouses or parents’(article 16)*,† another reporter reports. Is it just me or does this seem like something that is all too often heard on the news? The violent acts in the United States are out of control. But what can be done about it, and how much worse are things going to get? It seems to me that what is being done now isn’t enough, because things just keeps getting worse. There are twelve main things that have been being studied in depth lately by sociologists. They include: spanking, child abuse, spouse abuse, the punishment for the offenders, gun control, the media’s affect on violence, the role sports play in violence, the role religion plays in violence, pacifism, and international violence. My paper will discuss each of these aspects as well as my opinions and state some facts. Before I can say how I feel, I think there is a need to define violence, aggressiveness, and assertiveness and explain the difference between them. Violence is a physical act that intends to harm or hurt another person. Violence includes many things; such as, hitting, punching, biting, killing, stabbing, shoving, and so much more. Violence can be linked to two other words that have also become a part of every day life for many people; aggression and being assertive. Aggression is a hostile, or destructive act that is forceful. Aggression is usually related with someone being dominant. Being assertive is to stating something (i.e. your opinion) boldly. Both aggression and being assertive do not involve a physical force. Although these three words have different meanings, I think they very closely related. When a person is being assertive and not getting their way, or getting their point across, they can often become aggressive, and aggression often times leads to a violent act. This domino effect closely relates all these words. Violence, it has become something that society has to deal with every day now. â€Å"Much newspaper space is c... ...efend yourself or your team. What I do see a problem with is what sports figures do in their personal lives. When an athlete does something that is against the law they should lose the privilege of being a professional athlete. To get rid of international violence we need to have a peace conference where all the heads of the nations meet and work things out peacefully. I don’t really know what to predict when it comes to the future of the violence. It seems like whenever things seem to be looking up, something happens that makes the future of world peace look bleak. I think that if people start to care more and take action that things can change. We can no longer sit back and expect things to get better on their own. If any of my suggestions were to go into affect I think that a lot of the violence in America would decrease. I think the most important thing that needs to be done is outlawing of handguns. If this were to happen, I think the amount of violence acts would drop 50%. Unless this happens, violence will increase. Violence has become a problem that is way out of hand. Something needs to be done, and fast, or our once beautiful, peaceful country will go to ruins. Business Plan: Sugarcane Juice Industry

Executive Summary We are the students of BBA from AIUB; under kind supervisor of sir MD. Mostofa Jaman started to work on new and innovative idea that has not been before in Bangladesh. As a step towards growing entrepreneurship in Bangladesh we students of AIUB have a tradition to present our new and innovative idea in front of people which could benefit the job situation in Bangladesh and so that we could become job givers not job beggars. Sugarcane juice industry is a business idea that deals is product. Our product is sugarcane juice in tin pack or pet bottles.Sugarcane juice is widely used in summer season because of its taste and low costs. Now in many countries it’s produced on chemical basis and there sales are quite high especially in Middle East countries. This juice is widely used in hot weather conditions. Industry Environment Over view of the industry Our business is the part of fruit & vegetable industry of Bangladesh. Agriculture is the largest income and employ ment-generating sector of Bangladesh. About two third population of the country resides in rural areas and directly or indirectly depends on agriculture for their livelihood. The sector is an important source of demands for its products. Company Locations and Facilities We select our industry location in Ashulia, Gazipur because we collect most of our sugarcanes from the north Bengal. The transportation system with north Bengal to Ashulia is very good. Potential customers Our potential customers will be every kind of individuals like: ? Students at every level. (from school to universities) ?Employees who work the entire day in hot condition. ?Households, passengers. In summer season every kind of people with no age limit use this juice, because most of the people avoid unhygienic products.Initially we will only limit our geographical scope to Dhaka and then after initial success we will expand our target segments. We expect we will cover almost 30%-40% of Dhaka’s population w hich could be almost one million we expect that out of these 30%-40% we will capture 60%-70% of the market. Direct competitors We don’t have direct competitors in our product however in substitute products we have mainly big companies like: Pran, Shezan, Akiz, Partex etc. Marketing Business opportunity This is the business plan of a partnership in the name of Sugarcane juice. The plan is to process and market the high-quality sugarcane juice.First time in Bangladesh, juice will be preserved in tin pack keeping them as fresh as at time of extraction. Till now market deals in fresh fruit juices which can be easily preserved however this idea has not been catered yet. Collecting raw materials Bangladesh country is an agricultural country. In North Bengal the farmers produce a huge amount of sugarcane. So it is a great opportunities for us to collect our raw materials. 1st year we buy our raw materials from those farmer. On the other hand in that year we leas 450-500 acres of lan d from the farmers and produce sugarcane in those land. Our sugarcane production will be increase if we grab the market. Company impact Sugarcane juice is widely used because of its sweet taste and being a solution to different health problems. The cost of production and raw material is not so much. It needs not to be marketed so much because it’s a new thing which people will try and love a lot. Simply we can place it in universities cafeterias, gourmet franchises and grocery shops, the only thing we must do is to ensure its shelf life and long time preservation time. Company strategy In first year, our company will market in Dhaka.Dhaka will be sole market for first year. Then looking through our sales history we will expand our business opportunities to other big cities of Bangladesh. More products that will be processed in same way and will be included in product line after making a good repute in the history. Operation Organizational structure â€Å"AAA† is an orga nization that will be legally formed as partnership firm. The partners will be Afroja Islam, Wasif Sabbir Hossain, Jabir Rahman, Shubo Saha and Md. Yusuf Raihan. Each partner will contribute 20% as initial investment in business.Key management personnel 4 important departments will be there: Purchasing and logistics Mr. Wasif Sabbir Hossain with one assistance (employee) will be responsible for all operating materials purchases at best possible rates and delivering at the appropriate time, use of just in time inventory. Production and Financial operations Md. Yousuf Raihan will be responsible for qualify production process. He will also be responsible for financial records and accounting. Md. Yusuf Raihan needs the following staff at the plant in the process. Process workers (1) MarketingMiss Afroja Islam is our marketing researcher. She alone with assistance of Jabir Rahman is responsible to design promotional campaigns and do art work for advertisement. Their main task is to work in celebration with sales department to create demand opportunities and find out new market segments. Warehouse Management and sales Mr. Shubo Saha will be responsible for managing finished goods inventory in Dhaka Warehouse and office and to go generate sales per decided and approved credit terms from financial department. Machinery requirement We use few kinds of machinery in our industry.Like crusher machine for crash sugarcane, filter machine for filter the crushed juice, labeling machine, can lid machine etc. Our plant capacity will be 3500-4000 Liters per day. Preservation system for sugarcane Aqueous ammonia (28% NH3 w/v) was mixed with 500ml batches freshly extracted sugarcane juice at level of 0, 0. 5, 1. 0, 1. 5, 2. 0, 2. 5 and 30% (w/v). the mixture were at a room temperature is sealed glass containers for 7 day period to measure changes in pH and Brix of the juice. Result for pH & Brix during 7 days after treatment are shown in Table 1.It gives the trends in these measur ement for aqueous ammonia level of 0, 0. 5, 1. 0, 1. 5 and 2%. Results for higher concentrations were identical to those for 2% aqueous ammonia. It is obvious that ammonia works well as a preservation especially if fairly high level are used, at level above 2% w/v the juice becomes less palatable for cattle and such situations if should bereft to stand until the excess ammonia dissipates. It has been suggested by Leng and Preston (1976) that the optimum level of available nitrogen in the rumen to ensure optimum synthesis of microbial protein in 3 g N/100 g of fermentable organic matter.Taking this case of cane juice at 14 Brix, then this world require about 1. 5% (w/v) of aqueous ammonia (28% NH3 w/v) in order to provide the required amount of available nitrogen for microbial protein synthesis. In the experiment reported here, the inclusion of from 1. 5-2. 0% aqueous ammonia in the sugarcane juice, thus provided the necessary amount of Nitrogen for rumen systematic protein and also preserved the juice over 6 days. Investment and Projected Financials Capital investment Business will be started with total capital of BDT 10,000,000. Each of five partners contributes 20% capital.Investment BDT Security payment for 10 Marla building Plant & machinery Labeling machinery Can lid selling machinery Working capital Total 200,000 4,060,000 90,000 110,000 4,662,000 9,122,000 Operating investment before earning BDT 4 months rent of plant building Wages for approx 2. 5 months Approximate initial recruitment cost Initial utility bills Total 160,000 100,000 20,000 40,000 320,000 Surplus= (10000000-9122000) =878,000 Surplus will be used to purchase operating materials for supplies for starting production.
